If your installing a 10-inch under-sink filter on your cold water tap, this filter is the best way to go. Since these are rated for 20,000 gallons, there is no need for a separate tap. A .5 micron filter is too restrictive on the water flow and a 5-micron isn't nearly as efficient for removing chlorine, sediment, odor and things that effect taste. These are a 1-micron Coconut shell based Carbon Block filter. Almost no black particles to plug up your faucet aerator. Follow the instructions and flush for 5 minutes after install. I install a fresh filter every 6 months.
