Ultraviolet Preventative Maintenance Insulating Your Pipes

Ultraviolet Preventative Maintenance Insulating Your Pipes

Whenever a cold liquid moves through a pipe in a warm and or humid room you'll get condensation on the outside.  Given enough cold water flowing with heat and humidity, like in a cottage without air conditioning, the water will start to run off the pipes and you'll get puddles on the floor or worse yet drip on the electrical or electronic components of your water treatment system, often causing major damage to your Water Softener or Ultraviolet Disinfection System.  This could result in damage to the floor but also your water treatment equipment.  Also, since these pipes are located in an area with minimal air circulation and a somewhat dirty environment it doesn't take long for mold to start to grow on the outside of the pipes, making for an unsanitary mess.

To stop this process you’ll need insulation on the outside of the pipes.  This insulation is readily available at any hardware store in ½”, ¾” or 1” pipe sizes.  Installing it is super easy with just basic hand tools.

As you can see the results are great and the dripping condensation will stop immediately.
